His Traditions

Kantha : The South Asian simple running stitch that creates textures and motifs with its wrinkled, wavy effect.

Zardozi : The Mughal art of sewing with gold string that carried the Persian richness to Lucknow.

Applique : The needlework pattern created by a small device applied on another surface with straight or satin stitch for ornamentation.

Aari Taari : The gold and silver embroidery that has made the bridal saris and colourful lehengas of Jaipur a must for trousseau hunters.

Tie-n-Dye : The bright, saturated primary colours and bold patterns that emerge when a fabric is twisted, pleated and crumpled with string before applying resist dyeing.

His Signature

Everything is handworked. The fabric is handwoven. The stitches are needle-worked. Every single step is lovingly crafted by human hands. The outfits developed as the craftsman progress. The motifs are individually designed to complement the style. Nothing is pre-cut to be then embroidered. He sits with his team of karigars to individually work out the dresses. He does not mass produce for chain stores - he designs only to meet individual demand. His creations lean towards abstract though figurative touches are derived from the natural world to create the effect of leaves, peacock feathers, even the snake skin.
